Salvage – Dredger Recovery

Seawork were instructed by the owners of a sand quarry near Alton to recover ashore a dredger from 30 metre deep quarry. This type of work is core to Seawork’s business, experience, capability, personnel that excel in these demanding conditions, deep, cold, zero visibility, difficult access etc.

To undertake this work a modular pontoon and workboat was lifted into the quarry and a dive control, compressors and generator was set up on it and a decompression chamber was positioned on shore ready for use if required.

A work plan was established to remove the 35mtr dredge pipe, disconnect the power cables and access walkway that had been dragged down with it.

Flotation bags were attached to these components to move to the bank and clear the area for the main lift of the dredger itself that weighed in at 65 tonnes.
